2016 august 038In 1986 Margaret Meadowcroft set up Rye Watersports as a teaching centre for windsurfing and dinghy sailing. This large coastal lake, on the Kent and Sussex border by Camber Sands, was the perfect location.  It soon became known as the premier windsurfing and sailing centre in Southern England.

Only one hour from South East London and close to Surrey it’s accessible to everyone in this corner of England.

The newly opened ‘Hoolie Cafe’ is run by Margaret’s daughters Rosie and Beth who are also windsurfing instructors and part of the family team.
Steve, the Centre Manager and multi-qualified senior instructor co-ordinates activities.

2003 saw the launch of our BKSA Rye & Camber Kitesurf School headed up by Tom and Sam, and 2013 our BSUPA Paddleboard Centre. This is the place to paddleboard in Sussex on our beautiful coastal lake with no waves or tide to contend with. The flat water of the lake provides perfect conditions for paddleboard lessons and the kitesurfing beaches at Camber Sands East Sussex and Greatstone Kent are some of the best in the country.  Kitesurfing and Windsurfing on the South Coast offers varied conditions, but the shallow waters at Camber Sands and Greatstone, Kent give confidence to pupils

Informal and friendly our centre is the hub of all our activities.  After your lesson you can chill out on the decking and enjoy refreshments from ‘The Hoolie Cafe,.
