Windsurfing courses and private windsurfing lessons for beginners and advanced pupils at our Royal Yachting Association windsurfing school that is in its 21st year. Our lake is just over half a mile from Camber Sands, one hour from London, and is easily accessible by road or rail to those living in Kent, Sussex or Surrey. We offer safe flat water that is ideal for anyone new to windsurfing. The lakes close proximity to the sea means we get consistent sea breezes when other inland lakes are windless.

Introduction
Windsurfing has changed dramatically since it first hit the watersports scene in the 1970’s. Learning then was a serious challenge! Now with wide style boards, light rigs and up to date teaching methods you can be windsurfing with confidence in a few hours. On our safe coastal lake with a team of dedicated instructors the learning curve is quick and fun. All windsurfing tuition is run along RYA guidelines and we use the ‘Fast Forward’ programme. This method of teaching has been developed by the top windsurfing coaches in the UK, who have applied the latest theories in sporting science.

Imagine blasting over the water’s surface powered only the wind before banking into a turn in a shower of spray .. this is the goal of most windsurfers, it gives you an amazing feeling of freedom, exhilaration and achievement.
Our centre is very family friendly so everyone can come along and participate. If you have your own windsurfing equipment you pay a launch fee and can windsurf on the lake all day. We are one of the few windsurfing centres in Kent, Sussex and Surrey that doesn’t require you to become a member first.

After your windsurfing lesson our lakeside centre is perfect for the debrief; chilling out on the decking drinking a beer or enjoying a cappauccino, and watching the sun set over the lake, and the medieval town of Rye.
Rye town, with its cobbled streets, tea shops, bars, art galleries and antique shops, is only a ten minute walk away. A perfect place to while away a few hours, or stay overnight to make a week-end of it.

Start Windsurfing RYA Level 1
A two day 8 hour windsurfing course

A fantastic introduction to this exciting sport. Your windsurfing lesson starts on a dry land simulator, where you can learn all the basics without getting wet! Once on the water we teach you to sail across the wind and turn around, so you can always get back to the beach. A short theory session covering wind and safety will give you the confidence to progress on to the next stages. By the end of your course you will be able to tack and gybe and understand points of sailing in relation to the wind direction; you will be skimming over the water in harmony with the wind, and without doubt you’ll be hooked on windsurfing.

RYA Introduction to Fast Forward
A two day 8 hour windsurfing course

Once you’ve completed your ‘Start Windsurfing’ lesson, you can progress onto the Fast Forward course. If you can get in some practice before you come on this course it is an advantage, but not a prerequisite. The new formula of ‘Vision, Trim, Balance, Power, and Stance’, is applied to your windsurfing skills. Beach Starts, harness set up and techniques, faster tacks and gybes are all covered.

A two day 8 hour windsurfing course

We use the latest wide style short boards and high performance sails to introduce you to the foot-straps, stronger winds, and the carve gybe. Harness skills, power control, rigging and tuning, to get the most out of your kit are all part of this advanced course. Our aim is to get you planing and into those foot-straps …

Windsurfing Clinics

These are aimed at individuals or small groups who want tailored coaching specific to their needs. Waterstarts, carve gybes, foot-straps, jumping and freestyle can all be covered. These are two hour sessions run on Sundays between 3.00 and 5.00.

Private Windsurfing Lessons

Private windsurfing tuition is offered on an hourly basis, on your own equipment or ours. Call to book.
